What Is The Difference Between 3A, 4A, 5A, 6A, 7A, 8A, and 9A Hair?

Before we can even jump into the differences between these hair grades, it is important to note that not every hair company sells 100% human hair extensions. In fact, many companies sell hair extensions that are mixed with animal hair, synthetic fibers, and fallen hair. Furthermore, there is not a governing body (like the FDA for food) in the hair extension industry to regulate hair companies. As a result, a hair company can sell you a package of human hair and only have 1 single strand of human hair in the bundle with the remaining being synthetic fibers and/or animal hair. Yikes! 😳

So, you may be wondering what the heck have I been wearing in my head?! And the truth is … it is a strong possibility that you may have been lied to about the origin of the hair you purchased, if it is 100% human hair, and if it is 100% virgin or raw hair. I hate to say it, but most companies are not transparent about what’s really going on behind the scenes because all they care about is how to make massive profits or they are simply uneducated and don’t know the truth themselves. 😱

Hair Extensions Imports By CountryWith that being said, China is the No. 1 exporter of hair extensions to the United States. So, let me set the record straight … Brazilian hair is not coming from Brazil, Peruvian hair is not coming from Peru, and Malaysian hair is not coming from Malaysia. And whatever Eurasian is … um it’s all made up to trick you into buying! Most hair companies are straight up scamming you by importing your favorite “so-called” virgin hair directly from China and packaging it as exotic Brazilian, Peruvian, Malaysian, Eurasian, you name it!

So back to the original question, what is the difference between 3A, 4A, 5A, 6A, 7A, 8A, and 9A hair? The reality is this … if you want quality 100% raw human hair, then there is no difference because this Chinese hair grade system does not apply to authentic hair. This infamous hair grade system was made up by Chinese vendors that supply your favorite hair companies the hair they sell to you. 100% raw hair is 100% human hair and it is cut directly off a single donor’s head. It is completely unprocessed pure hair. It reacts to the weather like your own hair. It can be bleached and colored like your own hair. It may have split ends like your own hair. In other words, what you see is what you get … real human hair. So, the next time you see a hair company selling hair based on a fake Chinese hair grade system … run! This type of fake virgin hair won’t last past the first install. In fact, you’ll end up spending more money over a year because you will have to purchase hair for each install you have instead of reinstalling the same quality hair over a two year span.

Let’s do a simple calculation. If you get a new sew in approximately every 8 weeks, that means you will have approximately 6 installs over a year. If you purchase inexpensive “so called” virgin hair at $50 a bundle and you need 3 bundles per install, you will spend $150 for new hair each install. Now, let’s take that $150 and multiply that for the 6 sew ins over a year. Well, that’s a total of $900 in hair over 1 year.

Conversely, if you purchase 100% raw unprocessed hair that is priced at $175 a bundle and you need 3 bundles, you will spend a total of $525 … a savings of $375 over the course of a year! And guess what … you can use this same hair if you care for it on each install for approximately 2 years. So really, you actually save $1,275 over 2 years ($375 in year 1 savings + $900 in year 2 savings)!

With that being said, forget about the Chinese hair grade system. The 3A, 4A, 5A, 6A, 7A, 8A, and 9A fake virgin hair is manufactured in a way to make you continuously purchase more. Yes, it’s made to look silky. Yes, every bundle looks the same. Yes, it is inexpensive. But it’s all a trick because it is processed to look like quality hair and packaged with an exotic name. If you have ever wondered why your hair extensions do not last or if you have ever experienced tangling and matting after washing … you’ve been scammed. Your “so-called” virgin hair was manufactured with mixed synthetic fibers, has been dipped in an acid bath to remove the cuticles, and coated with silicone to make it look silky. So, there you have it … the truth shall set you free!

I’ll just sit this video right here for you to hear it straight from a Chinese vendor. She specifically says, “This is NOT OFFICIAL hair grading standards. This is just MARKETING standards.”
